Year 3 Weekly Highlights 23.6.23
This week, we have loved hearing the children excitedly preparing for Hiltingbury's Got Talent. We are so proud of how the children have thought about their acts, performance and who to work with. And prouder still of their courage to go for it in the first place. Thank you if you have helped and supported your child/children with this.
On Tuesday afternoon, the children visited different classes and teachers to talk about their subjects. We have had so many wonderful comments from teachers across the school about how well the children behaved. Some were even paired up with some year 6 children so well done year 3.
The children have been showing off their writing skills by making up their own ending to the story "Into the forest" by Anthony Browne. If you haven't read it yet, we would strongly recommend it. In maths, we have continued looking at shape and explored angles as well as properties of shape. Do you know what a 7 sided shape it called?
We have been studying light in science - thinking about how we see light, light sources and are starting to investigate how bright an object appears the closer it becomes. I wonder if you can ask the children: what is darkness? They should be able to tell you the answer!
Just a reminder that Monday is our whole school transition day. The children will be told who their teacher will be and who will be in their classes. No doubt this will cause some worry monsters over the weekend. We have spent some time over the last 2 weeks as a cohort to discuss and explore any issues or worries. As a year 3 team, we have thought long and hard about how to build each class and hope your child/children will be reassured by the end of Monday. Each child has at least one friend from their list.
Wishing you all a wonderful weekend.
