Year 3 Weekly Highlights 20.6.25
We have been eager to find out what happens next after Lucy walks into the wardrobe from our key text - The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe! This week, it was revealed where Lucy ends up. We watched as Lucy entered the snowy setting in Narnia and started to generate vocabulary to describe the scene.
In reading, we have continued to read, The Boy Who Grew Dragons. A particular highlight from this week was looking at the text, Dare to Care - Pet Dragon, to find out other dragon facts to share with our main character, Tomas. Year 3 enjoyed reading about the anatomy of a dragon and how to care for them!
In maths, we have brought our learning on Time to a close and have started our new unit on shape. We have started to look at ways we can describe a turn and different angles within shapes.
In Science, through our key scientist - Thomas Edison, we started to explore light by creating our own light boxes to explain how we need light to see even shiny tin foil. Thank you again for bringing in cardboard boxes from home to support our science learning.
In computing, we have used our understanding of what animation is from our last lesson to create our own animations using small movements on the iPads. We learnt a new skill, onion skinning, to help us ensure that the animations run smoothly.
We wish everyone a great weekend in the sunshine!
The Year 3 Team.
