Year 4 Weekly Highlights 10.10.25

Year 4 were introduced to their new reading text last week, Cloud Tea Monkeys, and this week they continued to become familiar with the main character Tashi.  Through the text the children are making inferences about the characters, after practising the skills of inferring on Madam Trunchbull and Vernon Dursley!  Thank you to everyone for their support with reading, it is such an important skill and a great way to have a moment to escape.  Supporting the children to learn their times tables and spellings is greatly appreciated and really does help your child in the classroom.  We have heard that there are some children who are very close to achieving their green heat maps already.  What a great reason to celebrate and we will be delighted to display all green heat maps.  As we continue with our new project: 'Is there enough for everyone?' The children are enjoying writing about William and his amazing journey to create a windmill that generated electricity and eventually provided water for villagers' crops.  This is a true story and William prevented his Malawi village from starving in addition to providing light.  A truly inspiring story.   In maths, we are drawing our first unit on place value to a close with a couple of lessons on negative numbers and roman numerals which the children are enjoying although we will continue to embed the skills of rounding four digit numbers to 10, 100 and 1000.
