24.10.25 Highlights

What an exciting and hard-working week it’s been in Year 6! As we reach the end of this half term, the children have continued to amaze us with their curiosity, creativity, and determination.

We brought our geography topic on Earthquakes and Volcanoes to a close this week. The children have loved exploring how the Earth’s powerful forces shape our planet — from understanding tectonic plates to learning how communities around the world prepare for natural disasters.

in English, we turned our creative skills to writing our own narratives — this time, from the unique perspective of a volcano. Each child wrote about the eruption not as a simple natural event, but as an emotional moment filled with power, guilt, and remorse. The empathy and imagination shown in these pieces were truly impressive!
In English, we completed our focus text on Safiyyah’s War. This powerful story has led to some deep discussions about courage, strength, and resilience in the face of adversity. The children reflected beautifully on how even in the toughest times, kindness and bravery can shine through

In maths, we’ve been tackling formal long multiplication. The children have worked hard to understand the method and apply it accurately to increasingly challenging problems. They are developing excellent perseverance and precision.
