Year 4 Weekly Highlights 13.2.26
We made it to half term! Well done everyone!
It's been another busy week in Year 4. Beowulf has been cast and some scripts have been sent home which is super exciting! Dragons have been sculpted and painted and await their adventures through stop-frame animations after half term! In Science, children have explored and created their own switches to turn on and off electrical circuits, in Reading we've been developing our fluency and expression as well as using these quality texts to develop our vocabulary. In English the children have written persuasive letters to Beowulf from the Sea Hag, begging for mercy for herself after the killing of her son, Grendel. The children have used a range of persuasive devices, including subordinate clauses, fronted adverbials and emotive language, such as similes. They've used online dictionaries to develop their understanding of a range of vocabulary and to understand subtle differences in word-meanings. In Maths we've been learning about area by counting squares and have now begun our fractions journey. We hope everyone has a good rest over the break, and lots of fun too!
