Year 4 Weekly Highlights 6.3.26

What a busy week we've had! What a difference the weather has made too!

Year 4 had an incredible time at Butser Ancient Farm and learnt so much more about the Anglo-Saxons which has really bolstered their understanding and engagement in our topic. Photos are on their way! It was lovely to see many of them wearing the jewellery they had made on the trip during our World Book Day too - they were clearly proud of their efforts 😊.

World Book Day was also a real success this week and we had so many brilliant costumes across our year group. Children also enjoyed trying to guess our staff theme - Mr Achilles made a brilliant BFG backed up by Mrs Spence and Mrs Deacon as the Queen and Sophie - check out the staff blog where you can see the whole staff dressed up as Roald Dahl characters. Lots of fun reading activities filled our morning and we encourage children to read as much as they can for pleasure. We also have SORA now too, so do download this when you can, it is an amazing resource for us all.

In Science, we've all started our unit on sound and the children enjoyed learning that sound travels in waves, through solids, liquids and gases. Cup telephones were put to good use on the playground! I'm sure we all remember that from our own childhoods! Our English unit on Dragon information texts is well underway and the children have shown real strength in adding and subtracting fractions with the same denominators.

Time for a rest - have a good one, all!
