Consent information for Google Workspace for Education

What ‘Google Workspace for Education’ contains:

Gmail: An email address that can only be used to send and receive e-mail from teachers and children in our school. This is sometimes used to send children work or information and helps us to provide a safe environment for the children to learn about email. The children can only receive emails from ‘@hiltingburyjuniorschool.co.uk’ addresses. They cannot receive e-mails from anyone else. For e-safety purposes all emails sent and received are monitored and recorded.

Google Classroom: Classroom is a safe, monitored ‘forum’ for the children to share and submit work, but also leave ‘comments’ for one another. It is used in some year groups as a way to ask for homework help. Teachers may use it with their classes to send assignments, make announcements, track children’s progress, test spellings and times tables etc.

Google Meet:  Google video conferencing allows students to join their teachers and peers in live lessons from home using a Computer, tablets or phone and is fully integrated with all the other G Suite applications. Students have full access to disable their webcam before starting and during the Google Meet.

Google Drive: An online storage folder with access to many other applications, including online word processing, spreadsheets, slides/presentations, Google Jamboard, a drawing app and Google Forms. These apps enable children to work on projects and access information both at school and at home, regardless of what computer or tablet they are using. This allows the children to show you what they have been working on in class.

Google Sites: A website design and creation tool. Google Sites enables the children to collaborate on the Year Groups websites, which are a source of additional information and support. The children also learn how to create their own websites using Google Sites.

Google Keep: A note taking app that allows students to create lists, capture their ideas and share with their class.

Google Calendar: An online calendar to share important dates or events, this could include dates that homework assignments are due to be submitted.
