Year 4 Weekly Highlights 14.3.25

This week has been a great chance to do some outdoor learning as part of British Science Week. The children had been learning about Biodiversity in assembly, then we followed this up by studying the biodiversity of our woodland area. Many interesting things were found: flowering plants, pinecones, earthworms, centipedes and of course trees! We then wrote a letter persuading Miss Loosemore to invest in a new tree for this area - fingers crossed!

We've had another exciting focus this week too - Beowulf! The children have all started writing their play scripts now, using all of the features that they have been learning about. Well done to all children who auditioned for a big part - we were blown away by the standard this year and it was an extremely difficult task to cast them all. We are excited to begin rehearsals next week.

In PDL, we completed the final lesson on 'Flexible Thinking' (one of the 6 executive function skills that we have been learning about). The children learnt a brilliant strategy for how to compromise called a 'working out window'. Do ask them to show you how they work!

Next Monday we will be going on our trip to the church as part of our RE unit on Sacrifice. Please remember that we will be wearing normal school uniform that day instead of PE kit.

Have a lovely weekend and enjoy the sunshine.
