Year 4 Weekly Highlights 25.4.25
The summer term has started with a hook for our new project - 'What is more important - the journey or the destination?' This project will encompass many different curriculum areas and is focused on the concepts of 'journey', 'change', 'adventure' and 'awe and wonder'. Through the day, we explored journeys with a particular focus on special journeys the children have been on. Please talk to the children about your own experiences of special journeys! We have also read about the difficult journeys some families undertake when they become refugees and also, on a lighter note, explored a wonderful picture book called 'Journey' by Aaron Becker. To further explore the concepts of this project we have investigated 'adventure' and 'awe and wonder' in the school grounds. Applying the concept of change to a piece of paracord in order to change it to a knotted keychain took us all on a personal learning journey!
In maths, one learning journey has come to an end as we finished our fraction learning. The children have done so well with this topic and we are really proud of them. Our next learning journey in maths will be the topic of 'time'. As part of this, the children will be telling the time to the nearest minute. This can be challenging for many children so please do ensure you have an analogue clock available at home and perhaps you can quiz your child at opportune moments. There are also some time related games on Google Classroom you can explore together.
