Year 6 Weekly Highlights 25.4.25
Hope you all had a very happy Easter.
This week Year 6 began with gusto: by introducing our new project for the term. 'How will we be remembered?' To kick off the project we were visited by Hampshire Forest partnership whose legacy aim is to plant 1 million trees.
In writing, we are looking at the legacy of Greek literature and the influence it has had on modern writing and storytelling. Year 6 have immersed themselves in stories about gorgons, minotaurs and many of the Greek Gods and heroes. We are looking forward to next week writing part of the Greek myth Daedulus and Icarus.
In maths, we completed our percentage unit by looking at pie charts and using fractions and percentage knowledge to answer questions. To end the week, we began our unit on ratio and explored what a ratio is and how we can solve ratio problems.
In reading, we began our book Wolf Brother by Michelle Paver. The reading homework this term will be reading chapters of the book. So please read with your children over the next few weeks to help them improve their fluency and understanding of the book.
