Year 3 Weekly Highlights 2.5.25
What an exciting week we have had in Year 3!
In English, Year 3 have explored more of Escape from Pompeii and have identified the main character’s feelings at key points in the story. As well as this, we have written a setting description of when Mount Vesuvius started to erupt.
Meanwhile, in our reading book, Wildsmith, we have developed our knowledge of inference by writing inference sentences using evidence from the text to justify how Rowan and Grandpa are feeling. We have also started to write our own response to a question using ideas from the book so far. We are looking forward to seeing what happens next with Rowan and Leaf, the dragon!
In History, we have explored chronology to understand where the Roman period fits amongst other time periods, the key events within the period and the meaning of AD and BC.
A highlight from this week was our school trip to Fishbourne Roman Palace as part of History learning. Year 3 explored what life would have been like living in the palace during the Roman period. We also got to take on the role of archaeologists exploring mosaics, the hypocaust system and artefacts in the museum!
Just a gentle reminder that our library session is next week - all three classes are visiting the library on Tuesday. Please make sure all library books are in school.
Enjoy the sunshine over the bank holiday weekend and we will see you on Tuesday!
