Year 6 Weekly highlights 6.6.25
We have had a dramatic start to our last half-term at Hiltingbury Junior school. In English, we continued exploring the literacy legacy of Shakespeare by exploring the story of Romeo and Juliet. Year 6 had the opportunity to do some role-play of the play: preparing them to write a narrative next week. Also, our Lion King rehearsals began this week. We completed a script read-through and began learning some of the songs. Please encourage your children to learn the words of the songs and if they have lines, to learn these off by heart.
Our legacy project,'How will we be remembered?' was threaded through our foundation subjects this week. We continued our study of the Ancient Greeks in history, explored the humanist concept of 'the river of life' and started our art project on the legacy of Anthony Gormley and Julian Opie.
Next week, we will be looking forward to hearing the Year 6s performance poetry in class. Please help your children to learn over the weekend to find and learn to read the poem (it doesn't need to be off by heart).
Have a lovely weekend.
The Year 6 Team.
