Weekly Highlights 8/6/26
What a great week finished off with our amazing Sports Day! The weather held off...just. The children did brilliantly! Thank you to all those who attended and cheered on the children.
This week we have been discovering more about Shackleton's 1914 expedition plans through both our reading and writing lessons, and the children have been practising the skills needed to write a first person descriptive narrative as Shackleton's ship, the Endurance. This exciting piece of history will continue to unfold over the coming weeks - we can't wait for the children to find out about the whole story.
We have also been classifying animals in Science and, in particular, penguins!
A massive well done to all of the children for the amazing job they have done with their MTC checks over the last two weeks. The months of practising, homeworks and TTRS tournaments have really paid off!
In Art, we found out some facts about our artist in focus, William Grill. He is inspired by nature, loves using colouring pencils and carries around a sketchbook everywhere he goes. The children will practise using colouring pencils to work towards an Antarctic scene as their final piece.
In Geography, the children have been learning about the different biomes around the world. This topic has been enriched by the brilliant VR experience they had yesterday. They were able to experience the different biomes as if they were standing there!
Have a wonderful weekend,
The Year 4 Team
