Year 3 Weekly Highlights 21.10.22
Happy half term everyone!
We cannot believe that we have been together for 7 whole weeks already. What an incredible start to the year. We hope you have all enjoyed meeting your child’s class teacher. It is always such a wonderful end to the half term to be able to talk about all the children have achieved already in year 3.
In maths, we have been continuing to look at different mental methods for addition and subtraction. The children have done so well representing their work using number lines and bar models.
In English, we are coming to the end of our local flyers work. We will be choosing our finalists on the Friday after half term. There will be 8 chosen from each class and their work will be displayed in the front window at Sparks Ellison for the following two weeks. If your child’s work is chosen, we will send you an email to let you know but we welcome you all to go and have a look. It is a wonderful opportunity to showcase the children’s work and we are incredibly grateful to Adam and the team at Sparks Ellison for assisting us in this venture once again.
We have sadly come to the end of some of our units of work. Our Mr Men and Little Miss sketches are now complete and are on display in the classrooms. We have also practised our music performances on Fruit Wraps. Our geography unit of ‘our place’ ended with a chance for the children to show off all that they have learned. We have had a chance to swap classes this afternoon. We welcomed year 5 and had a wonderful time sharing work we were proud of.
Just a reminder that on Monday 31st October the school is closed for INSET day. Tuesday 1st November 3BC will be on their trip to Hilliers. Usual school uniform is required but the children can wear trainers for comfort. Don’t forget a raincoat (fingers crossed it won’t be needed!), a packed lunch and drinks bottle as well please!
We hope you all have a wonderful, well-deserved restful break.
