Year 3 Weekly Highlights 20.9.24
Year 3 have enjoyed reading the start of The Barnabus Project this week. We have met Barnabus, who is half mouse and half elephant and created our own hybrid creatures and drawn on expanded noun phrases to create our own descriptions today.
We have also discussed a range of fairy tales and their features and had our big reveal with our new reading text - The true story of the three little pigs! Our class fluency targets are to take a short pause at a comma and a longer pause at a full stop.
In Maths, we have been using dienes and our place value charts to partition and represent numbers to 1,000. We have had to be careful to use the correct mathematical vocabulary to explain our thinking and prove this with our resources. We are continuing to practise our multiplication and division facts for our 2s, 5s and 10s.
In Art, we have developed our understanding of Rembrandt’s portrait style and have started to mark make using different pencil thicknesses to sketch our own eyes using mirrors. Next week, we will use our new mark making techniques to create portraits of half of our face.
We wish you all a great weekend!
