Year 3 Weekly Highlights 4.10.24
We have had another busy but exciting week in Year 3!
As part of our English journey on The Barnabus Project, we have thought carefully about our use of verbs, adjectives and nouns to write a setting description from Pip the Cockroach's viewpoint. We used our senses, expanded noun phrases, simple sentence and compound sentences. We look forward to the start of our retelling of the next part of the book, next week!
In Maths, we have started our new addition and subtraction unit, drawing on our place value knowledge of hundreds, tens and ones. We have been noticing patterns, explaining which number changes and why, when adding and subtracting 1, 10 and 100 and using number lines to add 1s across 10.
A particular highlight for this week was when Year 3 wrote as Alexander T. Wolf from The True Story of the 3 Little Pigs. They all wrote a first person letter to the Third Little Pig to apologise for his actions - ask your child about what Alexander might be apologising for!
As we continue to establish routines for Year 3, we ask for your continued support at home to help ensure your child is reading at least three times a week, completing their weekly spellings on Google Classroom and their 2s, 5s and 10s on TTRS.
Have a wonderful weekend,
The Year 3 team
