Year 3 Weekly Highlights 1.7.22
This week in Year 3 in our maths lessons, we have started our learning about geometry. We have explored a variety of 2D shapes and their properties. For example, a square has 4 sides, 4 vertices and 4 angles. Ask your child the properties of a triangle or hexagon! On Friday, we started to explore what an angle is and what it looks like. One of our main pieces of learning is that when two straight lines meet, an angle is formed.
In our reading lessons, we have continued to look at the book 'The Boy Who Grew Dragons'. We have looked at Tomas and what happened to the dragon fruit once he put it in his bedroom. We have focused on the skill summarising using a comic strip. Ask your child what happened to the dragon fruit!
In English, we produced our adverts on Isotote bags. They had to include a catchy slogan, a title, and paragraphs which explained the product, how it was made and what it looks like. The children produced some excellent and really eye-catching adverts!
To end the week, we all had lots of fun during Sports Day. A huge thank you to Mr Wright and our Year 6 Sports Leaders for running the event. The Year 3 children came back with a smile on their face and filled with enthusiasm.
We wish you a fantastic weekend!
The Year 3 Team.
