There have been lots of excited children in Year 4 land this week with the start of Advent. They enjoyed decorating their own class tree with positive messages about their classmates, which will be read out over the coming weeks. We have also started our Christmas RE which is about angels and we have had some wonderful drawings of angels which has led to some interesting discussions about why we all had different ideas.  Perhaps you could talk to your child about your own impression of angels and even draw them a picture.  

Something else that has been generating lots of excitement is our new dragon unit in English. What will hatch out of the giant eggs in the classroom?  We have never seen the children write as enthusiastically as when they were describing a new dragon they had found, and we noticed lots of children have dragon themed book from the library too.  We will also be drawing dragons as part of this cross curricular topic. 

In maths we have just started a new topic of length and perimeter. We are starting now to see some real progress with the children's times tables knowledge so please do keep up the Times Tables Rock Stars at home - it really does help.
