Year 4 Weekly Highlights 13.10.23
What a week it's been for Year 4!
The children have been enjoying celebrating World Mental Health Day, showing acts of kindness to each other and collecting sparkly, silver stars for a display in their classrooms. Our Wellbeing Ambassadors have been supporting the adults in school looking for and rewarding those acts of kindness wherever they have seen them! Children spent time doing art activities and reading as well as learning ways to keep themselves mentally safe and well.
This week, to support our Geography learning, Y4 have been on trips to Bolderwood in the New Forest. We are starting to compare The new Forest in the UK with Yosemite National Park in the USA, in order to answer the question, 'Could The New Forest and Yosemite be twinned?' We will go on to explore the similarities and differences of the physical and human geography of the 2 places.
In Maths this week, the children have been learning about Roman Numerals and negative numbers. Try to spot these in real-life contexts with your child and ask them to talk about their learning. We often see Roman numerals in clocks - please do talk to your child about telling the time on an analogue clock. By the end of Y3, the expectation is that they can tell the time to the nearest minute.
Have a super weekend! Not long now til half term and a well-deserved rest!
