Year 4 Weekly Highlights 12.1.24
In Year 4, this week has been another exciting one. On Thursday, it was 4S's turn to learn to play the ukulele. Their first lesson was amazing with the teacher sharing how impressed she was and how much she was able to pack into the lesson. We are all excited to work towards the concert which we are hoping will be on the last Thursday of the term. (28th March). In other news, the children have written two story extracts based around the adventures of Marcy in Ancient Egypt using their skills of fronted adverbials and description of thoughts and feelings. In maths, we are working through our tables by identifying patterns and strategies for calculating multiplication using our knowledge of our tables. This week is the first week of sending home some times table practice sheets to be completed and returned the following Friday together with an email explaining the Year 4 national multiplication check. We greatly appreciate your support with helping the children to learn and retain their tables from regular practice. The children are so proud when they are able to confidently use their tables in their maths lessons. Teeth were the focus for our next lesson as we explore the journey of digestion, and the children enjoyed identifying their own teeth and their functions. In history, we are beginning the unit with an activity to explore chronology before looking at a few ancient civilisations and their achievements.
Best wishes for a relaxing weekend and perhaps some snow next week????
