Year 4 Weekly Highlights 21.6.24
A particular highlight of this week has been the use of the VR sets to explore biomes in geography. The children exclaimed with delight and fear as they encountered the creatures that call these biomes home: from cute arctic foxes, to particularly large and hairy tarantulas and even a hungry lion!
We have been delighted by the children's engagement in our new project as we learn all about Shackleton's expedition to Antarctica. In English, we have experimented with personification and written from the point of view of Shackleton's trusty vessel, the Endurance. So far, the expedition is only just starting so please don't spoil the ending for the children if you know the story (and what a great one it is!) In science, the children have become penguin experts as they devised a key to identify the different species of this iconic bird found in Antarctica. Our art has also continued the theme with the children using line and tone to make sketches of the great man, Ernest Shackleton, himself.
This week's maths has involved further exploration of decimal tenths, including rounding to the nearest integer. We are excited to extend our learning into hundredths next week.
Have a wonderful weekend!
