Year 4 Weekly Highlights 8.11.24
We hope everyone has had a wonderful half term and a good rest. The children in Y4 have been ready and eager to learn about our new project! The key question we are looking at this half term is 'Do We All Have a Voice?'
Over the next few weeks, we will be investigating the following questions:
What is our voice?
Does everyone have the right to speak freely?
Does the past have a voice?
How can we make ours and other voices heard?
We began with our hook day on Tuesday where the children learnt the words and some of the sign language to Katy Perry's ROAR - a song which celebrates using our voices to stand up for ourselves. In the afternoon the children were introduced to the idea of Democracy and we will be furthering our knowledge of this throughout this project.
In English, the children have been introduced to the historical figures of Rosa Parks and Emmeline Pankhurst. They have been enthusiastic to begin to find out a little bit about their backgrounds and have been starting to discover what motivated them to fight for equality.
In Maths, we have begun subtraction and started to use a formal written method with 4 digits, exchanging when necessary.
We hope everyone who went enjoyed Spooks and Sparks last night and that everyone stays safe at any displays they might be attending over the weekend too.
Great start back, Year 4, well done :-)
