Year 4 Weekly Highlights 21.3.25

Year 4 began the week with a beautiful, spring, sunny walk to the local church to discover more about Sacrifice in the context of Easter and why this is important to Christians.  We would like to thank Debbie Pearce and her team for their kind hospitality and discussion on the topic.

Over the last few weeks, the children have been building on their passing and invasion skills in Games and realising that these skills can be applied to many team sports. This week saw these skills put into practise in a thrilling pirate and treasure island game.

This week was especially exciting in English as the children continued to write their playscripts with their own roles in mind and the prospect of having their words read on the stage.  It has been a real pleasure for the teachers reading the children's dialogue which has been blended with such rich and graphic descriptive vocabulary.   Letters have now gone home with a kind request for support with clothing for the performances on Monday 31st March at 1.30pm and Tuesday 1st April at 9.30am.  We very much look forward to seeing you there.

In maths, we have continued to work on fractions with children mastering adding and subtracting fractions to a whole before looking at mixed number fractions.  The children continue to work hard on learning their times tables and keeping them fluent in their minds.

We continue to appreciate your support with helping the children learn and practise their tables.

Harklights hit a climax this week with Wick attempting to save the orphans.  As we draw to a close with the exciting conclusion, we plan to continue to read in class so we do not intend sending the books home at the weekend.  Please can all the books be back in school for lessons.  Thank you again for your support with the reading and helpful discussion about the plot.

Wishing you all a super weekend.

Year 4 Team.
