Year 6 Highlights 01.4.22
Well, where to start! The last couple of days in year 6 have been action-packed as we enter the penultimate week before Easter.
In maths, we have started our new unit of percentages; we’ve learnt how to convert them to fractions and decimals as well as find percentages of amounts. English has seen us write our newspapers about the unbelievable conquering of Mount Everest and revise the past and present tenses. Meanwhile, we have continued our wonderful unit of dodge ball in Games, which has been thoroughly enjoyed by us all.Our skills of dodging and throwing and catching accurately have clearly been developed over the last few lessons. In other highlights, we explored and investigated our heart rate in science and how it gets affected by certain things-like drinking water before exercise. It was something we really looked forward to!
Later in this amazing week, we read further in our new brilliant guided reading book Wolf Brother. Year 6 practised reading orally-rehearsing our fluency and intonation-while we learnt more about Torak and his ever-growing predicament…
As we bring a close to the Spring term, we look forward to continuing our wonderful year and current subjects. We can not wait to develop the skills of dodge ball and writing next week and move on with this amazing time in Year 6.
