Year 6 Weekly Highlights 20.1.23
In maths, we have been looking at how to measure and draw angles. We have also been using the protractors to draw triangles (like right angled triangles, or a triangle with a 60 degrees angle.)
In English this week, we’ve been writing a letter from the viewpoint of a World War II evacuee. Our trip last week to Hooke Court helped with this as we had a day as a World War II evacuee child. Since this was an SOA (site of application), we’ll get a coloured dot to mark.
For reading, we had the author of Everest (the book we are looking at currently in our lessons) come in and talk to us! She talked about the book, and told us more about the time Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay conquered Mount Everest.
In science, we planned an experiment about resistance. We are going to see if making the wire thicker, changing the type of wire, or changing the length of it would increase the resistance in the circuit.
In French this week, we continued with French phrases you might say in a restaurant or cafe, using phrases such as J’aimerai (I would like) and Que desirez-vous (what would you like).
