Year 6 Weekly Highlights 24.3.23
What have we been doing in year 6 this week?
In English, this week we planned our site of application on the Highwayman by retelling the poem as a narrative. We generated vocabulary on Thursday, also we started writing our SOA on our setting description. We revised on all the things we needed to know to make this writing a successful piece since we are sharing it with our year seven teachers.
In reading, we are focusing on a heritage text called the Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe written by C.S Lewis. We answered some comprehension questions on this text, we mainly focused on word choice inference and fact retrieval questions.
In maths this week we finished learning to divide fractions, and we started our new unit on percentages. We also learnt how to convert fractions into percentages with a denominator that wasn't a factor or a multiple of a hundred like converting them into there lowest term or multiple of 100.
We finished the week continuing with our Nepalese landscapes. We experimented with painting techniques and practised creating different sky backgrounds for a variety of times of days to then use in our final pieces next week.
