Hugo's Heroes

Hugo's Heroes meet weekly throughout the term supporting Helpful Hound Hugo, our school therapy dog, with his training and service awards. The sessions provide a great opportunity for a small group of children to work together and build relationships while also having the time to get to know Hugo better, gain more confidence and for them all to be successful in the training, including Hugo!

Each half-term, a pupil from each year group joins sessions with Hugo and Mrs Vikki Batten learning about Hugo's care, sharing calm time around Hugo, learning about safe care and increasing Hugo's exposure to settling time in classrooms.

Over the last two terms, the children have been practising Hugo's recall, his wait command, focus, working with distraction, walking, settling in class, pressure therapy and even a little hide and seek!
