Our Library

Welcome to our libraryWelcome Cover — Olin Public Library

We have a wonderful school library run by our librarian, Mrs Thomas. The library is open once again, albeit in a new, creative way from the norm!

Every child now has the opportunity to loan four books (two books to keep in school to read and two to take home to enjoy).

Each class is now timetabled to visit the library regularly. This visit will mean that children who have finished a book will have an opportunity to choose a new book.

The teachers and Mrs Thomas will be encouraging children to choose books wisely and to keep their two library books at home till nearer their library visit and they will need the books for their weekly reading homework task. Re-reading books is worthwhile and they could be used to look for spellings of the week, etc too... It's also important that every child has books at home, in case of isolating, or a class, or year group, having to work from home. Any finished books need to be passed to the class teacher for quarantining. It has been wonderful having children back in the library and so many have been very enthusiastic about selecting books and reading.

Hiltingbury 100 Reading Challenge

This is a list of 100 books that Mrs Thomas and Mrs Pollock recommend.  Your challenge is to read as many of these books as you can whilst you are at Hiltingbury Junior School. We are not suggesting that this is an exclusive list. What we hope is that these recommended books encourage you to discover new authors and to develop a life-long love of reading.
